Description
The accurate identification of heavy-flavour jets is crucial for many aspects of the LHC physics program. However, assigning flavour to jets presents significant challenges, primarily due to potential sensitivity to infrared energy scales. We present the results of a recent study that evaluate jet algorithms designed to be infra-red and collinear safe and applicable in high-precision measurements. We consider several benchmark processes for heavy-flavour production at the LHC, exploiting both fixed-order and parton-shower simulations. We analyse the infrared sensitivity of these new algorithms at different stages of the event evolution and compare them to flavour labelling strategies currently adopted by the LHC collaborations.
